How it works

Three strands, one season

1.

Robot Game

Design, build and program an autonomous LEGO® robot to complete missions on the season mat in two-and-a-half-minute matches.

2.

Innovation Project

Identify a real problem linked to the theme, research it, design a solution and present it to judges.

3.

Core Values

Discovery, innovation, impact, inclusion, teamwork and fun. Judged throughout the event, not just on the table.

From first meeting to regional final

FIRST® LEGO® League is delivered in the UK and Ireland by the IET. Creative Hut supplies the kits, trains the coach and runs sessions and events alongside the official programme, so a school with no robotics experience can field a team in its first season.

  • Kit and table: SPIKE™ sets, the season mat and a competition table
  • Coach CPD: a half-day to get a teacher or TA confident with the robot and the season rules
  • Season support: a structured 12-week plan, check-ins and a practice event before regionals
  • Regional events: we run FIRST® LEGO® League regional finals in Ireland
